System Update: Added Security Through LFD

Published on at by admin in: Funio, infrastructures, Web Hosting

Funio’s infrastructures team is continuously improving the quality of the service offered to our customers through different measures, which includes server security. Since we wish to keep you informed on new Funio developments, we wish to let you know that we have decided to implement a new security module on all our shared hosting servers.

Login Failure Daemon (LFD) is a module that provides security tools that allows, in part,  the blocking of certain web attacks, as well as authentication processes coming from ill-intentioned individuals in real-time, consequently blocking their IP addresses.

This allows to limit the impacts that certain attack attempts might have on our hosting servers.

If you have any questions in regards to this subject, please contact our technical support team.

System Update: Added Security Through ModSecurity

Published on at by admin in: Funio, infrastructures, Web Hosting

On Tuesday March 20th 2012, we finalized the implementation of a module called mod_security on all our Panelbox shared hosting servers. This module, known for its efficiency, allows the filtering of requests made on our web servers based on preestablished security rules.

These filters allow in part to protect you from known security vulnerabilities in certain scripts and web applications. When an action included in one of your web pages in your hosting account corresponds to one of these blocking rules, the operations performed by this page are stopped and a “403 Forbidden” page is displayed automatically instead.

Consequently, this allows the blocking of potential attacks and code injections made against your web pages. Additionally, this aims towards improving the quality of our infrastructures: by limiting the impacts of known security vulnerabilities on common web applications used by our customers, all of our customers avoid being affected by performance issues [...] Continue Reading.
