Ça sent la coupe ! PointQuébec on Engaging Habs Fans

As you surely know, .QUEBEC domain names have been available for a few months already. You can register your very own .QUEBEC directly with Funio.com.

With their new website www.çasentlacoupe.quebec, the PointQuébec registry (the organisation responsible for the .QUEBEC suffix) is inviting all Quebecers to make a pledge, when encouraging the Montreal Canadiens during their participation to the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs. By visiting the çasentlacoupe.quebec website, fans can attempt to influence the stars in favour of the CH, by committing to carrying out a personal challenge if the team wins a match, a series or the Cup, and then share their promise on social media.

As proud Quebecers, FUNIO has partnered with PointQuébec by providing hosting services to their project. We took the opportunity to meet with Normand Fortier, Operations VP, and Michel Philibert , Director – Communications & Marketing. They have accepted to answer a few questions in order for us to better understand the motivation that led PointQuébec to create this project.

What motivated the PointQuébec registry to start this project?

We are and have always been Canadiens fans. We were looking for a pleasant way to encourage our team and support the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation, which is where the idea of reaching out to ghosts and to the “Sainte-Flanelle” (the holy flannel sweater) comes from.

What are you doing to make www.çasentlacoupe.quebec visible?

We have been driving campaigns on social media where we have highlighted multiple members of our team. We are also putting up posters and flyers here and there.

What outcomes are you expecting out of this project?

That the Bell Centre ghosts and the holy flannel sweater help the Canadiens bring the Cup back to Montreal! But also to promote the .QUEBEC domain name.

What has been the public’s reaction to this idea?

The reaction is quite positive. We have received many website visits and a lot of pledges. People have a great sense of humour!

For now, what positive surprise has the project entailed?

Fan pledges… they make us smile and we find that people are ready to do anything for the CH to win!

Michel and Normand told us that the PointQuébec team has committed to giving $1,000 to the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation if more than 5,000 people participated to www.çasentlacoupe.quebec. They promised that they will double that amount if the Canadiens win the Stanley Cup!

Now, that’s game.

FUNIO is proud to be associated with this project. GO HABS GO!
