How to Learn to Code Easily and for Free

In 2016, knowing how to code is a must. More than coding in of itself, it is crucial to understand the basics. This will help you understand what is behind your website, and what your team of developers – or the developers you’re working with – are doing.

More importantly, knowing how to code means being able to react swiftly and make quick fixes and changes on your website without having to resort to someone qualified every time.

You don’t necessarily need to master perfectly all of the languages, or even the main ones. Notions of HTML, CSS and JavaScript should be enough to understand most of it and being able to make changes on your website, whether it is a static website or one made with WordPress or any other interface.

Here are a few resources to help you learn to code easily and for free!

CodeAcademy: the must! CodeAcademy offers courses and exercises for free to learn while doing. It is a very effective solution to learn the basics of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, Python, Ruby on Rails and many more. More importantly, you will actually learn while coding, which is a rewarding process and helps to improve fast.

MIT Open Courseware: the famous university offers a lot of online classes for free. It is an incredible resource to learn the theory of programming. We recommend you the first class: an introduction to programming.

Udemy: if you are more into watching videos to learn, Udemy was made for you! With dozens of videos of free courses, you’ll learn fast.

That should keep you busy for your next weekends. Happy coding!
