cPanel Announces They Will Stop Supporting Older Browsers

All good things must come to an end. cPanel recently announced they will no longer support versions 6, 7 & 8 of Internet Explorer, as well as older Firefox and Chrome versions, as well as other Web browsers. This does not come to us as a surprise, especially considering how fast the web has evolved, but it is an announcement to take into account since cPanel is the most popular web hosting control panel out there.

September 1st 2014, cPanel will stop supporting the following browsers:

  • Internet Explorer 8 and older
  • Firefox 28 and older
  • Chrome 33 and older
  • Safari Mobile in iOS 6 and older
  • Chrome Mobile 33 and older

User Impact

Minor repercussions are expected for users. That cPanel stops supporting these browsers does not mean that cPanel will become unusable with them. What this announcement really means is that the developers will no longer put any effort to accommodate older browser versions when they do updates or develop new cPanel versions.

For those of you out there that are still using older Internet Explorer, Firefox or Chrome versions, this may be the right time to update your favourite browser.
