One thing that hasn’t changed, however, is our commitment to providing reliable hosting and dedicated support to our customers.

As many of you may know, Funio is now proudly part of the Miss Group family, a global network of web hosting and digital service brands. This partnership gives us access to more resources, expertise, and opportunities to continue improving the services we provide while maintaining the same customer-focused approach that has always been at the heart of Funio.

Most importantly, the people behind Funio remain the same. The team members who answer your questions, support your websites, and work behind the scenes every day are still here and are as dedicated as ever.

Today for our first Blog post back, we’re shining a spotlight on one of those team members: Patrick Lepage. Many of our long-time customers may already know him, and if not, now is the perfect opportunity to learn more about the person who has helped support Funio customers since the Beginning!

——————

Tasha- “Alright, thank you so much for joining us, Patrick, we’re excited to hear from you so we can get to know more about the great staff at Funio. Let’s get started.”

Q: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Patrick- “Well, I’ve been working for Funio, and before that it was ‘Iweb’, since 2002. So, it’s been 24 years now. Pretty much I have always been in the same departments, customer service and technical support. Before it was strictly for shared hosting, then later for dedicated servers, then managing the system administrators, then moving over to Funio to assist in being the Manager for Technical Support.”

Tasha- “Wow, I did not know that! 2002! That is a long time.”

Q: Can you tell us a little about what you do outside of work, or what you enjoy when you’re not working?

Patrick- “I like to watch movies, and I like to play video games as well. I don’t game as much as I used to, but at one point when I was younger, I used to game a lot. Basically, before I met my wife, I was sleeping, working, gaming, sleeping, working, gaming.”

Tasha- “Sounds like the life.”

Patrick- “Yeah, well I was coming back home from work, and I started gaming until I went to bed and it repeated the next day. Eventually I realized well, I should do something else because I mean, I am only gaming, and I need to do something else. I was going to the movies as well, once in a while and stuff like that, but I toned it down eventually, the gaming part because it was beginning to be too much.”

Tasha- “I totally get you and the gaming aspect. I used to play a lot more in my 20’s. As I creep into my 30’s, I feel that I don’t play as much games. ”

Q: What got you into the tech industry?

Patrick- “Both my friends were working for Iweb at the time, and they knew I like the computer stuff. I liked everything related to computers so they asked me if I wanted to join them at Iweb. There was an opening for technical support for shared hosting. I knew absolutely nothing about it, and I mean really nothing, zero. I started from scratch. I learned everything as I was going. Everyday just learning new stuff and I evolved like that.”

Tasha- “That is an awesome story. You started from the bottom, and you worked your way all the way up to here! Okay!”

Q: Can you tell us your official role at Funio?

Patrick- “Well, it’s a little complicated because it’s always changing. I would say I manage the Technical Support Team but I don’t really know what I’m doing right now. I do pretty much a lot of things. For some examples, I’m the official escalation go to for every ticket that becomes too complicated for our shared support team. If they are stuck with something, I take care of the very complicated cases. I do abuse tickets. I translate every communication in French there is to translate, I help in campaigns for marketing…”

Tasha- “Got it. So, it sounds like you wear many hats, or a Jack of all trades over there. Look at you. You started not knowing anything and now you know how to do all of the roles!”

Patrick-“Yeah, we don’t have many choices because we’re a very small team so we all need to do a lot of things to get things done or else nothing will be done.”

Tasha- “Right Right. Ok let’s shift gears a bit and talk about some big events.”

Q: In the recent past, Funio was acquired and joined the team at Miss Group. How long ago was that?

Patrick- “The sale took place I think at the end of 2019 at and the start of 2020. Everything was officialized and we were part of Miss Group I think in January or February 2020. Just before the pandemic.”

Q: So it’s been a few years now. How has that transition into the Miss Group Family been from your perspective?

Patrick- “It was not always smooth but it was good still. There was some bumps in the road at some points. Some things that were a little complicated because we needed to move to WHMCS and there was a lot of things that needed to be done to just cut ties with our previous owner which was ‘INet’. They owned ‘Iweb’ and we were part of ‘Iweb’ before. When ‘Inet’ sold us to Miss Group, we were basically working in the offices of ‘Iweb’ in Montreal. After that, they temporarily moved us to another office for a couple of months for the completion of the transition. Then the pandemic happened, so we started working from home and we never looked back after that because we never went back to the office.”

Tasha- “I have to say, I totally agree with more industries moving into the remote work, I mean I don’t mind traveling but I have to say it’s easy for lunchtime to just go to my fridge.”

Patrick- “Yeah. Well, it’s much easier and the commute from my place to the office started to become more and more complicated. There’s a lot of traffic here in Montreal so I was really happy to stop going to work at the office. Really, really happy about that.”

Q: How would you describe the culture at Funio? Tell us about the overall vibe you get when you log in.

Patrick- “Well, it’s friendly. We are always friendly towards each other. Every member of the team. This is the kind of culture we want between all of the employees. We want to be a friendly culture to work in. No stress. There is a hierarchy of course, I manage a team. Even though they are employees, I treat them like friends as well. We don’t want to make people feel stress or say harsh things. We want everyone to feel great about coming to work everyday.”

Tasha- “That’s the goal. I definitely can agree with you just from the little work I’ve had with your team. So far you guys have been really hard-working and kind and inviting. We appreciate that for sure.”

Q: Before we go, is there a message you’d like to share with our customers and community.

Patrick- “Well, for me, since I began working in this industry, it was always customer first. I reminded a colleague of mine about this; he is more a technical, no-nonsense type. If there’s something security wise that needs to be fixed, he’s going to apply harsh measures to keep others safe and sometimes it doesn’t bold too well with the clients. So, sometimes I remind him “we wouldn’t be here without our customers”. If all our customers leave, we would have to close the company and lose our jobs. We need to treat them the best way possible because they are the ones who pay our salaries. So, it’s always making sure the customer is satisfied and that’s the main goal. If you keep them happy, they’re going to stay with you for a long time.”

Tasha- “Oh, that is just a great wrap. Thank you so much. I have to totally agree with you there. When you treat the customers like family, even when there are bumps in the road, they’re with you. During the Highs and the lows, they stay with you, and it is them that keeps our companies going. Thank you so much Patrick.”

Patrick- “I remember we had a big downtime issue in the past. I don’t remember the year, but our customers were sending us messages and encouraging us because they knew that the problem was not because of us. They knew we were working hard to bring all the servers back up. Some customers were unhappy, but the old customers that have worked with us for a long time understood what was going on because that’s how we treat our customers.”

Tasha- “Awe, they were cheering you on! Well, thank you so much Patrick for talking with us about Funio. I look forward to reaching out to you guys soon in the future to talk about the great announcements, updates, and things that you guys have planned for the rest of 2026! To our readers, please stay tuned for our next blog post and thank you so much for sitting down with me. You have a great rest of your day.”

Patrick- “You too, bye.”

——————–

We’d like to thank all of our customers for their trust and loyalty throughout the years.
